Days Ahead

Because yesterday was officially the first day of spring it made me stop and think a bit about what this means. The days are getting longer and besides the obvious blooms and buds I realized that each day only gets better and better from now through fall. There will be a new and different kind of work to do outside which puts you in the fresh air and sunshine. Early morning, a favorite time of day for me, will lengthen in light for some months. Evenings that the farmer loves will stretch longer as well.

I am looking forward to all the blooms and colors, even the worms and slugs.

And so is she.

I so agree! I look forward to the longer days of spring, the planning and planting of the garden, the field work on the farm and the days spent fishing and camping. A bit different for me this year since I went back to work, but a new adventure and one I welcome with the coming of a new spring.

Happy Weekend to you....=)

Ditto that!
I have already begun to work outside a little.
I have starter plants waiting to be planted.
I gotta get my garden tilled SOON!
Should have already been done. But I can't handle the cold, so I wait till it begins to warm up.

I love your photo of the little hen. She makes me miss the ones that cleaned out the bugs in my mom's garden

What a cute post. She's a beautiful hen. I'm putting in an order soon for new chicks. Our bad bad geese (who will soon be gone) killed them all. Very tragic. We are still under many feet of snow. Spring is another month or more off. I wish it were here!

I like all the flowers. Just not the slugs.

I used to feel that Summer was my favourite time of year, with all the hot weather. Now, I'm positive that Spring is my favourite. The turning of the tide toward more sunshine, favourable weathering, hopeful sprouts pushing up through the soil, birds cheerfully signing outside my window. *sigh* It's a welcome relief from the harsh winter.

What a lovely girl! Would she like some bovine visitors in the future?

Lovely hen pic!! My hens dug in the dirt with me on the weekend - we transplanted some shrubs and with every hole dug, they investigated for worms. I swore they would be sick after so many worms, but instead, they just laid extra large eggs!
